SUMMARY:Deliberative Facilitation Training
DESCRIPTION:High-quality deliberation depends on high-quality facilitation. FIDE Europe and We Do Democracy offer facilitators and practitioners a masterclass that provides the space, tools and contacts needed to develop the skills and common standards required in this field. This training comprises three levels of experience. Imagine the path to becoming a lead facilitator for deliberative discussions as a ladder. A training course is offered for each level – tailored to your experience. Level 1: Designing and facilitating deliberative processes Level 2: Deliberative facilitation Level 3: Lead facilitation The competency model The curriculum is based on the six competency areas of the competency model for lead facilitation of deliberative processes. It sets out what a lead facilitator needs to know and be able to do. What to expect This seminar is aimed at people who have sound general facilitation skills or have already worked in deliberative project teams and feel confident in dealing with others. It is not an introductory course, but a crucial step for facilitators who are ready to take responsibility for the integrity of a complete deliberative process. If you are already leading processes, this is the right place to sharpen your judgement in comparison with colleagues doing the same work, to test your own practice against shared standards, and to help define the craft as it establishes itself across Europe. The group of participants is deliberately kept small. Programme You do not become a lead facilitator in a single weekend. The programme is designed as a four-stage process spanning September, combining intensive in-person exercises with peer support and practical application. Learning objectives After participating in this seminar, you will: be able to design a citizens’ assembly from start to finish have a comprehensive understanding of the role and the necessary skills be able to design a team, a programme and a schedule have a comprehensive toolkit at your disposal to use during the deliberation phases understand the principles of a learning journey for citizens’ assembly members and be ready to design one have practised facilitation skills such as dealing with dysfunction, mediation, leading large-scale dialogues, deliberation and voting receive feedback from an international team of facilitation trainers to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses be part of an international community of practice for deliberative facilitation Learn more & register ...
