SUMMARY:Citizens´ Assembly Network: Organizing mini-publics with AI
DESCRIPTION:Citizen participation plays an important role in democratic society. Many decisions that affect citizens’ daily lives are made at the local level. At the same time, local governments often face major challenges. They lack time, staff, and financial resources. As a result, it is not always easy to carefully prepare and carry out participatory processes. The Participation AI developed by Mehr Demokratie (More Democracy) and the Initiative Offene Gesellschaft (Open Society Initiative) is a digital tool for cities and municipalities. This artificial intelligence helps employees in local governments plan and implement participatory processes, such as citizens’ assemblies. It guides users from the initial idea through to the concrete preparation of a participatory project. The participation AI helps clarify goals, select appropriate participation formats, and take key planning considerations into account. It serves as a digital guide, encourages reflection, and draws attention to potential challenges. In this way, it supports users in developing participation processes in a structured and goal-oriented manner. The Participation AI will be presented at the online meeting of the Citizens’ Assembly Network on December 2, 2026. The session will also explain how this tool can assist in preparing for citizens’ assemblies. Presenting the Participation AI Lotte Kirch, Open Society Initiative Julia Thomaschki, Mehr Demokratie The event will be recorded, and the recording will be made available to all registered participants. Registration The event is part of a series organized by the Citizens’ Assembly Network. By registering, you are automatically signed up for all future events in the series. You can unsubscribe at any time. Citizens’ Assembly Network The Citizens’ Assembly Network is a coalition of people who are committed to promoting the greater use of citizens’ assemblies at the local level or who are involved with them for other reasons. The network’s goal is to foster an ongoing exchange on open questions regarding mini-publics - such as topic selection, random selection procedures, implementation, costs, and the implementation of citizens’ assembly recommendations. You can learn more about the network here. ...
