SUMMARY:1,000 citizens’ assemblies later, what’s changed?
DESCRIPTION:Over 1,000 citizens’ assemblies (CAs) have been held worldwide since 2004. But what happens after the recommendations are delivered — to policy, to communities, and to the people who participated? Join People Powered for a webinar that brings together researchers and practitioners to share the latest findings and lessons learned from cases where assemblies have driven real policy change, as well as those where results have proved more elusive, including what we´ve learned about effective advocacy and assembly design. Speakers Ryan Gem from People Powered and Maria Milosh from the University of Chicago will present findings from People Powered´s recent CA impacts research brief, drawing on 66 studies across five continents. Miles Brackenbury from FIDE North America will share insights from evaluating the Victoria-Saanich Citizens´ Assembly in Canada, and a participant from that assembly will speak to how the experience affected them personally. Melisa Ross from the Global Citizens´ Assembly Network (GloCAN) will facilitate our discussion and share insights from her own research.
