SUMMARY:‘Together’ – How can we achieve a just transition towards climate action?
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is one of the most hotly debated topics of our time. At the same time, news reports, social media and personal experiences often shape our views on the issue in very different ways. Amidst scientific findings, political debates, emotional posts and misinformation, many people find it difficult to make sense of it all. The documentary “Together—How can we achieve a just climate transition?” tells the story of the Citizens’ Jury ‘Klima-Aufbruch in Erlangen’, which worked together to develop ideas for a sustainable and just climate policy. The film shows how people with differing opinions engage in dialogue and seek solutions together. In the discussion that follows, the Nachrichtenwerkstatt Nordsachsen and the Klimainitiative Taucha invite participants to look beyond the film. Together, participants will discuss how the media influences our perception of climate change, why climate issues are often the subject of controversial debate, and how to distinguish reliable information from sensationalised or misleading portrayals. The aim is not to judge opinions, but to understand how public debates arise and how we can critically evaluate information. The event provides a space for questions, differing perspectives and a respectful exchange of views. It is aimed at anyone interested in exploring the topic of climate change and its portrayal in the media – regardless of prior knowledge or personal views.
