A citizens’ assembly for Bonn’s theatres?

Bild zur Veranstaltung A citizens’ assembly for Bonn’s theatres?

The debate over the future of Bonn’s theatres – opera and drama – is highly charged and has stirred up the local community. A proposal from the city council is currently under discussion to relocate the opera house and/or the Schauspielhaus to Beuel. But what do the city’s residents actually want?

Volt is calling for a citizens’ assembly to be held on the “future of Bonn’s theatres”!

What exactly is a citizens’ assembly? How is it organised and who is eligible to take part?

Find out more and join the conversation with others about citizens’ assemblies – a format that involves real people in real decision-making. With guests who know how it works. And with you, because your opinion matters.

These guests and experts will speak and discuss with you:

  • Gereon Hermens, co-initiator of the citizens’ assemblies in the city of Aachen
  • Florian Wieczorek, expert on citizens’ assemblies at Mehr Demokratie
  • Marc Fonseca and Birgit Tellmann, Gesellschaftsforum Bundeskunsthalle Bonn

During the event, participants will take part in a moderated discussion about experiences with citizens’ assemblies and explore how the concept can be applied to the topic of Bonn’s theatres.

The event is free of charge. However, please do register so that the organisers can plan more effectively.
