Communicating deliberation: Strategies for different information landscapes

Bild zur Veranstaltung Communicating deliberation: Strategies for different information landscapes

The impact and legitimacy of deliberative assemblies depend partly on whether the wider public knows about them at all. However, communicating these processes beyond the room remains challenging. It requires a clear strategy, dedicated staff, and the skills to navigate a media environment shaped by social platforms and fast-moving public debates.

In this webinar, communication experts share how they approach this challenge in practice.

Speakers

Across three national citizens’ assemblies, the French Conseil Économique, Social et Environnemental (CESE) has refined its communication strategy. In this call, Lucile Duclaux, Project Lead in Communications at CESE, will share how this strategy evolved through these processes.

She will be joined by Rosalind Grisnigt, Communications Lead for the Dutch National Climate Assembly, who will discuss how to respond to media bias and political challenges to an assembly’s legitimacy. Her team also had to navigate two changes of government between the commissioning of the assembly and the delivery of its recommendations, adding another layer of difficulty.
