Representing the future through sortition

Bild zur Veranstaltung Representing the future through sortition

What place do citizens’ assemblies occupy in the history of democracy and the USA? How do climate citizens’ assemblies work? What does a permanent citizens’ assembly look like?

This year, the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College has launched a monthly online seminar series that functions like a reading group, but with short videos and discussions.

The next one-hour session takes place on 13 May. Political scientist Michael Mackenzie will speak about shaping the future through sortition.

This is not a formal university course – it is a drop-in academy and networking opportunity for those who wish to learn more or get in touch with organisations, organisers or facilitators. The full video series can be found on YouTube.

Join this short course featuring 12 videos on the history of citizen assemblies and sortition.
