A democracy update for Basel
The Basel Citizens’ Assembly is a randomly selected, representative group that examines a political issue in depth. In Basel, this format is to be integrated into democratic processes for the first time and tested as part of a multi-year pilot project.
Experts provide background information, which participants then discuss and use to formulate recommendations for Parliament and the Government.
The pilot project launches on 5 June with a public kick-off event. You will learn how the People’s Council works and how you can get involved.
Benedikt Meyer will host the evening. Together with the project team, experts and guests, there will be an insight into the concept and implementation of the Basel pilot project.
Afterwards, all participants are invited to a drinks reception: an opportunity for questions, discussion and new ideas.
