Together we can do better – making local citizen participation effective

How does citizen participation work in practice at local authority level? Whether in the local administration, on the local council or in civil society initiatives – anyone who puts participation into practice knows that together we can achieve more. In this two-day seminar, participants will learn together how an idea can be turned into a viable participatory process and what to do when things get stuck. To this end, they will explore specific methods and practical examples.
What to expect: A varied programme featuring expert input, group work, practical examples and plenty of opportunity for discussion. You will gain in-depth knowledge, methodological tools and inspiration for your own participation work – from the initial idea right through to implementation on the ground.
Key topics of the seminar:
- What constitutes good participation – for citizens, politicians and the administration?
- What formats, methods and tools are available?
- How do I successfully launch participatory projects?
- What experiences have others already gained – and what can I learn from them?
Target audience: The seminar is aimed at staff from local and district authorities (e.g. participation officers), political decision-makers (e.g. members of local councils), those active in civil society (e.g. from citizens’ initiatives and associations), as well as other interested parties from politics and public administration.
Participation fees: €20 | €15 (concessionary rate for students and those on low incomes)
Refreshments are included in the fee.
Speakers: Elisa Söll and Anni Schlumberger, Allianz für Beteiligung e.V.
