Speaking & Listening: How do you feel about democracy in our country?
Every few years, we vote for a candidate or a party. Yet as soon as we leave the polling station, it feels as though we are relinquishing our sovereignty and becoming mere bystanders to political decisions. “Those at the top” are supposed to sort things out, yet in the end they are to blame. Or is there another way? What else could participation look like? Are referendums or citizens’ assemblies suitable forms?
The Evangelical Academy Wittenberg invites you to express your own thoughts and listen to those who think differently using the “Speaking & Listening” format.
About the format
“Speaking & Listening” is a dialogue format developed by Mehr Demokratie. Participants experience an exchange on an equal footing, in which they can share their own experiences. One person speaks for four minutes at a time, whilst the others simply listen. Listening fosters empathy and respect. You will also discover that democratic understanding is possible.
Participation is free of charge.
