Taking an active role – participating effectively
This workshop focuses on actively shaping participation – in workplaces, local authorities and government departments. Rather than reacting passively to decisions, participants learn to take on their role consciously and exert effective influence.
The focus is on one’s own attitude: habits such as withdrawal, consumerist thinking or thinking in terms of hierarchies are reflected upon and transformed into an active, hands-on perspective.
Building on this, key skills for democratic engagement are strengthened. Participants draw on their own abilities, clarify their values and gain a better understanding of the structures and processes involved in participation.
There is a particular focus on specific participation and decision-making processes: opportunities for participation in bodies such as works councils, staff councils or citizens’ assemblies are made tangible. Various decision-making principles, such as majority voting, consensus or consent, are explained and applied in a practical manner.
The workshop provides space for experimentation, reflection and further development – with the aim of utilising democratic opportunities confidently and with self-assurance.
