What happens after inclusion? Making participation permanent

Bild zur Veranstaltung What happens after inclusion? Making participation permanent

Inclusive participatory processes often end when the project does. The communities brought into decisions for the first time can lose their place once the funding or the political champion moves on.

Join alumni of People Powered’s accelerator programs and partners from around the world to hear how they reached communities that are usually left out, and made participation a lasting part of how their institutions work.

For over a decade, Klara Cizkova was often the only person inside the Czech Ministry of Health pushing for citizen participation. She’ll share how she helped the ministry adopt an official participation strategy. Maverick Ayag will share how the LUPAD Youth Assembly brings young people from remote areas of Tagum City in the Philippines into a citizens’ assembly, with a guide in Cebuano so they can run assemblies in their own communities. Tim Hughes of the Open Government Partnership will reflect on what governments need to build participation into how they work.

You’ll also learn how to apply for the Climate Democracy Accelerator, Democratic Innovations Accelerator and Rising Stars Mentorship of People Powered, open until 27 November.
