Local citizens’ assemblies: Taking action together

Bild zur Veranstaltung Local citizens’ assemblies: Taking action together

The mayoral election will determine who will lead Leipzig politically in future. But democratic participation does not only take place on election day. Citizens’ assemblies are one way in which citizens can contribute their experiences and perspectives to shaping their city. But how can the idea of a local mini public give rise to a group that takes up its own issues and takes collective action?

This event focuses on the next concrete steps. Together, you will develop ideas on which issues the group might address, how collaboration can be organised, and what tasks lie ahead. The focus will be on the participants’ questions, experiences and ideas.

In facilitated small groups, you will explore possible topics, structures and specific next steps. The results will then be discussed together. An expert in the field of citizens’ assemblies and democratic participation will provide further practical insights and be available to answer questions.

The event is aimed at anyone interested in citizens’ assemblies and new forms of democratic participation. It offers a space to explore together how an initial idea can be turned into concrete local activities.
